Dr. Maury Jackson (DMin) serves as associate dean at the HMS Richards Divinity School of La Sierra University, professor of Practical Theology, chair of the Pastoral Studies Department, and Coordinator of the Philosophical Studies program. He is an ordained Seventh-day Adventist Christian clergy with nearly two decades of experience in pastoral leadership, serving congregations in the southern California area. He holds degrees in philosophy, theology, and ministry from Claremont School of Theology, California State University, Los Angeles, Andrews University Theological Seminary, and La Sierra University. His most recent book chapter publications are “Ecclesiology and Theodicy: Bonhoeffer’s Sanctorum Communio as Response to Human Suffering” in the book entitled Can You Hear My Pain Now? Making Pastoral Theology Relevant in a Modern World eds. Michael G. Maness and Kevaughn Mattis, (Eugene, Oregon: Wipf & Stock Publishers 2022) and “Healing Shepherds and the Pastoral Care of African American Religioracial Ills” in the book African American Seventh-day Adventist Healers in a Multicultural Nation eds.
